This is the first installment in a series of articles with “The World is Turning” Author Don Paul and his interview with Bob Feldman of Toward Freedom. New installments will be added every Sunday to Puppetgov.
PART I:
On April 14, 2007, New Orleans-based writer-poet-musician-and-activist Don Paul was the Chief Prosecutor for the “San Diego Citizen’s Grand Jury on the Crimes of September 11, 2001 in New York City”, an event held at San Diego State University. He co-founded the organization Rebuild Green three days after Hurricane Katrina and moved from San Francisco to New Orleans in January 2006 to help with efforts for recovery there. The author of more than 20 books and the producer of more than 20 albums, Paul was recently interviewed by email by Toward Freedom about the Democratic Obama Administration’s first 100 days and about his most recent book: “The World Is Turning: `9/11,’ The Movement for Justice & Reclaiming America for the World”
Toward Freedom: Why did you decide to write your new book, “The World Is Turning”?
Don Paul: To tell the truth, it felt like something that was needed for me at least. I wanted this new book to be a one-stop resource into the crimes of 9/11/01 and their connections to the comparably contrived ruinations that surround us in 2009. I wanted to bring a prosecutorial edge to the present. I’m sick of criminals running our lives.
I also wanted to show ways and means OUT that are already producing bounties for people around the world. The World Is Turning … puts together two earlier books, ” ‘9/11′ ” / Facing Our Fascist State from 2002 (FOFS has been sold out since 2004) and To Prevent The Next ” ‘9/11′ ” from 2005. It also has my six columns for the San Francisco Bay View newspaper from Fall of 2001, columns about 9/11that came to be collectively titled ‘What a Plot!’ .
The World Is Turning also has, from 2008, ‘A Brief Guide to Proofs of Demolition’ of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers and it has a four-page brochure for Organic Valley Farms that recommends ‘Local Control and Organic Solutions’ for the United States’ food-supply. It concludes with two essays about the U.S. Government’s giveaway of trillions of dollars to foundering commercial Banks and investment Banks over the past year, essays that urge abolition of the Federal Reserve System and replacement of the huge, supranational bettor/debtor Banks.
This new book also has pages of art-work by Mac McGill, Ted McManus and Rob Leslie and reviews of books of poetry by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Jack Hirschman. It has an extensive Index, other topical pieces, and it has three interviews, two of them with you, Bob, from 2003 and 2006. It’s my effort to put into one volume exposure and resistance that will WORK to free us from financiers’ empire of terror and debt.
Let me tell a little story that relates to your question. Last November I was a guest of Venezuela’s National Library (the CENAL) for the 6th annual Feria Internacional del Libro en Venezuela (the FILVEN). Cuban national radio interviewed me after one panel. After ten or so minutes of hearing me hammer at particular holes in the Official Story for 9/11/01, the Cuban journalist asked: “Why are you so obsessed to bring light to this obscure situation in the United States?”
Smile.
Because, I replied, the Big Lie of 9/11 remains “the foundation for the War on Terror, and the War on Terror is headed directly toward the financial Establishment of the Western world’s pathological dream of a New World Order. Since the year of our last interview, Bob, 2006, there’s been huge growth in groups of professionals who demand investigation of 9/11/01 and substantial growht in the credible research that supports these groups The Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, started by the highly industrious and courageous architect Richard Gage after he ordered 100 copies of the DVD ‘9/11 Guilt” in September 2006, now has 643 ‘architectural and engineering professionals’ as signatories to its call for an independent investigation.
There are now Medical Professionals for 9/11 Truth, Firefighters for 9-11 Truth, Political Leaders for 9/11 Truth, Lawyers for 9/11 Truth. There are the ample, good sites for the Journal of 9/11 Studies and the Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice.
Over the past year there have been four substantial, peer-reviewed papers which confirm and analyze the presence of nano-thermites in dust and chips from the World Trade Center Twin Towers and Building 7 destruction-sites. Nano- thermites being ideal, high-tech means for demolition of those three Buildings. Steven Jones, the Brigham Young University Professor Emeritus of Physics who’s been at the fore in analyzing WTC debris for three years, said: “This finding really goes beyond anything that has previously been shown. I also want to especially recommend Kevin Ryan’s paper from July 2008 for the Journal of 9/11 Studies–’The Ten Connections between N.I.S.T and Nano-Thermites’.
N.I.S.T. is the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the U. S. Government arm that’s been most publicly used to distort or suppress physical evidence from 9/11/01 findings. Kevin Ryan’s paper lists many connections between ‘NIST WTC investigators’ and Corporations and Universities whose research has examined nano-thermites as explosives. He then questions why nano-thermites are unmentioned in any of NIST’s voluminous reports on the WTC 9/11 destruction. So … we have a great deal more to fuel ‘the Movement for Justice’ that I note in the new book’s title. In San Diego, two years ago, the Citizens’ Grand Jury of twenty-three volunteers from southern California named sixteen individuals as
worthy of further investigation for the Charge of ‘Conspiracy to Commit Mass Murder’. Richard Gage was an Expert Witness present at this event, Kevin Ryan and Steven Jones testified on tape for it, and Jim Hoffman was its Chief Investigator. I thought the Grand Jury’s Indictments and Presentments were a brave, empowering step forward. They led We Are Change in New York City to separately confront David Rockefeller and Rudolph Giuliani.

9/11 is still the Big Lie behind the United States’ endless wars in the 21st century. The Obama Administation now wishes to call the ‘War on Terror’ ‘Overseas Contingency Operations’–a term that may remind some of ‘collateral damage’ for civilian deaths in Vietnam–but this lie of a War remains the same damned deceit that kills tens of thousand of people and costs hundreds of billions of dollars a year at the same time as it’s more repressing civil liberties.
Last February, at a press-conference to announce the increase of U.S. troops in Afghanistan by 17,000, the new President, Barack Obama, said about Afghanistan “The bottom line though–and I just want to remember the American people, because this is going to be difficult–is this is a situation in whcih a region serived as the base for an attack that killed 3000 Americans.”
That is, Barack Obama endorsed the fairy-tale that al Queda orchestrated the ‘Attack on America’–with that attack’s demolition of the three WTC skyscrapers and its distraction of North American air-defenses–from the Muslims’ command-centers in their Afghan caves.
Well, nonsense! The Official Story for 9/11 has long been shown to be a fairy-tale of the Boogey-men. Everywhere you probe it a hole appears. The more you probe one hole in the O. S.’s improbable fabric, the bigger that hole grows, and the more other holes appear. The ‘Movement for Justice’ has been winning the battle to remove belief in this fairy-tale, this psy-op, among people in the United States. In 2006, around the time of our last interview, Bob, the Washington Post ran a poll that eventually had more than 94,000 respondents. 69% of them answered the question ‘Do you believe any of the conspiracy theories suggesting the U.S. Government was involved in 9/11?’ with ‘Yes. The government has left many questions unanswered about that day.’
Such was result three years ago, before the big advances in research and activism we’re just reviewed. What our movement has yet to do, however, is bring our light into public arenas that can’t be ignored. Courtrooms and Tribunals and boycotts are three potential arenas for such exposure. In my view we should advance to prosecuting likely suspects for the crimes that were set out by the San Diego Citizens’ Grand Jury.
Finally, The World Is Turning is meant to directly connect orchestrators of the 9/11/01 ‘Attack on America’ and its mass-murder in Lower Manhattan with orchestrators and beneficiaries of 2007-2009’s ‘Financial Crisis’.
