House Resolution 1388 is expected to go to the full House for a vote early this week after passing the House Education and Labor Committee which approved the bill to expand the country’s national-service programs
Critics have warned that passage of the legislation is a backdoor way to require mandatory service under the guise of volunteerism.

“The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act (The Give Act)” will require individuals, both males and females, to give 3 years of “service”.
The Senate is debating a similar bill, the Serve America Act, which is expected to be voted on this week by the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
